Board of Trustees Meeting Notes

June 4, 2019

Present:    President Norris and Trustees: Chamberlain, Clayton, Goldstein and Haber

Absent: Trustees Hollander and Jamerson

Village Attorney:   The Village Attorney provided an update as to the County’s position regarding flashing lights at possible pedestrian crossings providing access to the proposed bike path across Deerfield Road located at Hoffman and Timber Trail.  Currently the County has adopted a neutral stance being neither for or against having flashing lights at pedestrian crossings, although County Representatives did state that pedestrian crossings on busy streets do hold more risk.     The Board felt that more data including a pedestrian count needs to be done once the bike path has been completed before a final decision can be made.

Comments from the President:   Mayor Norris stated the recent tax increases past by the State Legislature are likely to result in an increase in revenue for Riverwoods.   Also, of interest, Mayor Norris stated that US Representative Brad Schneider will be holding a Town Hall Meeting at the Riverwoods Village Hall in August.

Approval of contract with Studio Park Avenue for Landscape, Architectural/ Professional Design Services Design Development and Contraction Phase Services for the Flatwoods Heritage Center:  The approval of this contract implements the develop of a plan to provide a natural screen between Village Hall / Flat Woods Heritage Center and its adjacent neighbors and will serve as a demonstration project showing how shrubs other than Buckthorn can be used for screening purposes.
